Lt. Gen. Dunwoody to become first female four-star general in U.S. military history

Having been an Army wife for longer than I can remember, it is great to see that glass ceilings are still being shattered in this 233 year old male dominated institution.

One would think in 2008 we would have already had a female president, a black president, or at the very least, a woman who has received the highest rank in the United States Army. Well, finally, we will see the latter come to fruition.

Today, Lt Gen. Ann E. Dunwoody, 55, after 33 years of service, will be the first woman to receive the fourth star promoting her to the rank of General, a nomination to appointment by the President of the United States himself. Now that is simply bootylicious!

Congratulations to Gen. Anne Dunwoody and to all that dare to follow in her footsteps and those who dare to do what has never been done before! This is definitely a milestone for women everywhere!
