Savvy Sunday - Taking the Good With the Bad

User ImageO. 17 August 2008 Art, Savvy Sundays | Comments

Since the last time I wrote here, my hard drive crashed, we lost our beloved Isaac Hayes, Michael Phelps won 8 gold medals, bootylicious milf Dara Torres won silver, I tried Arbonne products and liked them, my daughter turned 15, and I have been battling some sort of crazy stomach thing that turns everything that comes out the other end into liquid.

In all, it has been a very eventful week.

First of all, we will miss Isaac Hayes. Yet another talent that left us too soon. Sometimes we don’t really realize how much of an effect the artists in the world have on our lives until they are gone. RIP Mr. Hayes, I will never be able to listen to the theme from Shaft the same without thinking of you and your wonderful contributions to our world.

During my unexpected illness, I have been glued to the ongoing olympic coverage. I have been in love with the olympics ever since they were held in Los Angeles in 1984. I grew up right around the corner from USC and the Coliseum. I had an up close and personal look at the athletes as they toured Los Angeles and hung out at the University Village during their down time. It was a really big deal for a 13 year old girl and sealed a lifelong passion for all things olympic.

I would have given anything to be in Beijing this time around to see Michael Phelps make olympic history and it would have been an even bigger thrill to see the Official Olympic MILF, Dara Torres win silver at 41 years old. She is nothing short of amazing. She summed it up perfectly when she said, “Never put an age limit on your dreams.” We can all learn something from her when it comes to determination and confidence.
I also tested out Arbonne Products for the last four days. I did some research on the products, how they have been rated and if they are something that I would consider selling. It is a slightly different take on the multi-level-marketing concept. I don’t know that I would really want to do it as a business since I am first and foremost an artist and I really want to devote much of my time and energy to doing that. But I do love the serum and the eye cream and my skin does feel better and not as congested as it has been since I moved back to the states. At this point, the jury is still out though. I will post about them as i use them more.

On Friday, I won an award for being a pretty decent FRG leader. It is a volunteer award. I was actually rather surprised, so surprised in fact, that I wasn’t even there to receive it. Hubby graciously accepted it for me. It definitely made my day and I think that hubby got a real kick out of accepting it for me because of course it made him look good.

And speaking of my husband getting a kick out of things, it was 15 years ago today that I gave birth to my beautiful baby girl, she is now taller than I am, way more beautiful, and hopefully a whole lot wiser than I was at that age. Happy Birthday Stink-a-butt!

I guess no matter what bad things life may throw at you, crazy stomach viruses, or hard drives crashing and not being able to blog for a week, or even the loss of great people, life still goes on and there is always something good to celebrate, feel good about or at the very least, look forward to.

If we live long enough and experience enough of what life throws at us, the sooner we learn to take the good with the bad and not let the bad over take us, the better off we will be. I guess that basically sums up my Savvy Sunday message for this week.

Have a bootylicious week and God Bless,
